SAAVI Agripreneurship Training Programme
Consisting of 10 modules, this course is designed to provide young Iraqi people with an overview of entrepreneurship in Iraq, particularly in the context of agriculture.
The first modules focus on introducing entrepreneurship, the entrepreneurship culture and what it means to become an entrepreneur. This enables participants to familiarize themselves with the main elements of running an own business and enable them to decide whether or not entrepreneurship would be something they would like to pursue. It then moves on to discuss some of the key concepts of entrepreneurship: namely innovation, the entrepreneurship culture and how to deal with failure.
The last four modules deal specifically with agribusiness. They begin with an introduction to agribusiness and business planning in the Iraqi context by introducing several case studies of successful agribusiness entrepreneurs in the MENA region. They then move on to exploring the issues involved in post-harvest management and food distribution, looking at different processes and innovations that have taken place in these sectors in Iraq. The course finally concludes with an examination of digital agripreneurship and the ways in which new digital technologies can increase the profitability of agribusiness start-ups.
Once participants have completed this course, they will be able to:
